Polish-Czech-Slovak Day 3

On 17 March 2025, the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business hosted the third edition of the international scientific conference “Polish-Czech-Slovak Day 3. Sustainable development – economic, financial, social and managerial perspective in the light of research by scientists from the Visegrad Group (V4)”.

The conference was held under the patronage of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Committee on Economic Sciences, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and the Polish Economic Society.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, Prof. dr hab. Czesław Zając, and the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. dr hab. Bogusława Drelich-Skulska. A welcome address was also delivered by Dr Artur Żurakowski, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Opole.

The conference brought together scholars representing universities from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland, including: Prague University of Economics and Business, Ambis University, Sting University, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, University of Prešov, Palacký University Olomouc, University of Economics in Bratislava, SGH Warsaw School of Economics, University of Opole, Opole University of Technology, University of Gdańsk, University of Łódź, and Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University.

The aim of the conference was to strengthen cooperation among universities from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, and to foster the creation of international research teams. The event forms an important part of the international cooperation activities of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business. Particular attention was devoted to research addressing sustainable development and its impact on shaping new models of society and economy.

The conference featured 14 presentations delivered during three thematic sessions chaired by Prof. Bogusława Drelich-Skulska, DSc; Prof. Adam A. Ambroziak, DSc (SGH Warsaw School of Economics); and Assoc. Prof. Mojmír Sabolovič, Ph.D.

Among the speakers were: dr hab. Adam A. Ambroziak, prof. SGH (SGH Warsaw School of Economics); Joanna Stefaniak, Ph.D. (University of Gdańsk); ing. Jana Chovancová, Ph.D. (University of Prešov); ing. Andrea Tomášková, Ph.D. (Ambis University); dr hab. Elżbieta Roszko-Wójtowicz, prof. UŁ (University of Łódź); Katarzyna Łukaniszyn-Domaszewska, Ph.D. and Roman Śmietański, Ph.D. (Opole University of Technology); ing. Pavel Semerád, Ph.D., MBA (Sting University); assoc. prof. Mojmír Sabolovič, Ph.D. (Prague University of Economics and Business); prof. ing. Vanda Lieskovská, Ph.D., and ing. Katarína Petrovčiková, Ph.D. (University of Economics in Bratislava); as well as ing. Veronika Vorobljevová (Palacký University Olomouc).
The Wroclaw University of Economics and Business was represented by Klaudia Przybysz, Ph.D., Piotr Zawadzki, Ph.D., Dominika Chabros, MsC, Marcin Majewski, Ph.D., Julia Majewska, MsC and Piotr Luty, Ph.D.

The event also included a scientific seminar with the participation of students from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The mentors of the seminar were: dr Anna H. Jankowiak, prof. UEW; dr hab. Artur Klimek, prof. UEW; and dr Szymon Mazurek, prof. UEW – all representing WUEB.

The presentations and discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening academic cooperation, which produces tangible research outcomes. During the conference, Marcin Orszulak, Ph.D., Head of the WUEB Publishing House, presented the history and achievements of the Publishing House of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business and outlined its publishing opportunities.

The conference was coordinated academically by dr hab. Magdalena Sobocińska, prof. UEW, and organized by the International Cooperation Center, directed by dr Anna H. Jankowiak, prof. UEW.

The Polish-Czech-Slovak Day 3 conference was financed by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the Welcome to Poland 2023 programme – project “Community, Development, Integration – Programme for the International Community of WUEB.”
